I know I'm not really active on this account any more. I'm getting somewhat bored with it and I don't really do much of this kind of work as much. I'll still be on occasionally to check and/or add things, but I won't be on this account very regularly I don't think. Sorry!

Ok so as a few of you know, this weekend I've been playing with the SCSBOA honor bands, aka All Southern. I am having SO much fun. Seriously. The music we're playing is incredible, especially a march by Hindemith. It makes me so very happy I like the other music we're doing too (pieces by ticheli, grantham, de meij, and tchaikovsky--if you actually have any interest in knowing which pieces, please ask, but be ready for me to go into an excited speech about how positively wonderful they are!). It's been so much fun, and I've been hanging out with a bunch of my friends from Idyllwild and All Southern last year. Our conductor is really great too; he's a little weird but in a pretty cool way. And as I said the music is FANTASTIC!

OH! And yesterday I found out one of my friends got into Julliard (without an audition) so I'm really really happy for him. That is just so fantastic and awesome. He got offered a full ride too, but I think he's still looking at other music conservatories.

Anyway, that's about it. I'll probably put another journal up sometime going into greater detail about SCSBOA this weekend. It's so much fun Playing great music is so addictive for me. Yesterday commented that music is to me as sugar is to him... which is probably true. YAY!

I have now caught up on reading every single journal in my message box here on dA. I'm sorry that I didn't comment on very many of them, but I did read them! Now on to the deviations...

By the way, my trip to Iowa this weekend was FANTASTIC. I have decided that I love the college, the faculty, the campus, and the snow. My audition, interview, and essay all went relatively well; I'm actually rather proud of the audition even though I kind of messed up and I was really nervous lol. When am I not though? Anyway, it was great. I have to tell you though, -11 degrees is rather cold. I'm sure everyone could figure that out, but I still have to say it because it is really, really cold.

I am SO far behind in looking at deviations and journals; I am very sorry! I have hundreds of both... I promise I will at some point look at everything there but I don't exactly know how soon. But I'm definitely not planning to abandon dA (again).

Anyways, a few of the sources of my inability to check all the messages are from being busy with very exciting things. I've been continuing to work on college scholarship applications, and I am very pleased that I have money that I would get at any of the three schools I have been accepted to. (Yeah I got another acceptance on Friday. It made me laugh because it had "Congratulations" written on the envelope. A little anti-climactic...) I'm still waiting on a response for admission/rejection (the latter is a little more likely) from my number one school, but we'll see how that goes.

In order to hopefully accrue more scholarships, this weekend I am flying to the Midwest for a scholarship contest and an audition for a music scholarship. My audition pieces are insanely hard so I'm probably going to make a fool of myself, but at least I'll have fun doing that because I like the songs. I'll probably freeze though; it's supposed to be between -4 and 8 degrees, and I get cold when it's 55 degrees out...

Yesterday I also found out that I got into an honor band that I auditioned for, which is pretty awesome. Fortunately/Unfortunately, I got into the more difficult band. I'm excited about that, but the program takes place in less than two weeks and I have very little time to practice and the music is rather difficult. So I'll probably be making a fool of myself yet again, but still having fun because music=awesomeness. Last night I was practicing until like 2 in the morning (I love my practice mute: nobody could even hear me!)

Anyway, that's about it in the life of Katherine. Well actually there's a lot more too but I'm not gonna type any more, in part because I have to leave to go tutor. Tuesdays are fun... Music lesson and tutoring! Both of my students are awesome though, so it's really cool.
